As I studied the scriptures this week and last, I pondered on the phrase, “Who shall declare His generation?”
I didn’t understand exactly what it meant, so I googled and cross-referenced around, and found that declaring someone’s generation means to tell their geneology. The writers of the gospels in the New Testament tried their darndest, and every prophet that’s ever opened his mouth has also tried. Satan has also really, really tried to undo those declarations.
Who shall declare His generation? Is a plea. Who will be willing to do the work involved in gaining a sure testimony of the divinity of the Son of God? Who will then take that knowledge to the world, and be willing to declare that He fulfilled the prophecies of being of the house of David through his mortal mother Mary, and thus able to experience all of the temptations, pains, and other things that only a mortal being can experience; and also declare that He is the literal Son of God, our Heavenly Father, with an immortal body, able to bear the pains and sins of all mankind, lay down His life and then take it up again? Who shall declare His generation? That is the clarion call for each of us.
As I discovered the meaning of this piercing question, I feel to stand and say, “I will.” In all my imperfections, in my striving to be better. I will declare His generation. I know He lives!
